I haven't written a poem in quite some time but this came to me, as I laid next to my sweet child while he nursed to sleep. He slowly rolled over and this poem was born. I hope you enjoy!
Baby hands
Moving ever so slightly in sleep
Checking to see if Mommy is near
My heart fills when that little voice calls out to me
Needing an extra cuddle
To drift back to sleep.
Moving ever so slightly in sleep
Checking to see if Mommy is near
My heart fills when that little voice calls out to me
Needing an extra cuddle
To drift back to sleep.
My sleeps are not my own
To do with as I please.
To do with as I please.
I wake when he wakes
If I try and catch a few extra sleeping seconds
A little face
So round and perfect
If I try and catch a few extra sleeping seconds
A little face
So round and perfect
Slowly comes nose to nose with me.
Mommy. Mommy. Mommy.
My reason calls.
